My name is Paul Rubin. I am originally from Houston, Texas and have resided in the Bay Area since 2009. With my growing family, I plan to be in the Bay Area for the foreseeable future. I believe it can be a great place to live, with opportunities for both personal and professional growth, as well as building community and a meaningful life.
When I first moved to the Bay Area, I pursued becoming a therapist, but took a detour into the financial services industry as a financial planner. I eventually found my way back to it. I have a deep commitment to helping people through psychotherapy. My experience includes working with children and young adults on the autism spectrum, students in public schools, individuals in a homeless shelter, adults in private practice, families in a community health clinic, and older adults in long-term care.
Throughout all of my experiences, I have learned much about the vast suffering we encounter as humans and the power of being with one another in those experiences. By getting to know and learning about other people as a therapist, I have also learned much about myself. This can have a healing quality for everyone involved. I have experienced this as a client as well. I continue this work with those who choose to engage in it.
When I work with clients, I aim to stay with the uncertainty and unfolding of the therapeutic process. Anxiety is often rooted in the unknown, and revisiting difficult experiences with someone you come to trust can be both challenging and transformative. Through this process, greater self-awareness can develop, allowing for a deeper sense of stability and choice.
