Hi, I’m Paul Rubin. I’m originally from Houston, and I’ve been living in the Bay Area with my growing family since 2009. I love this area for the chance it offers to build community, live meaningfully, and grow both personally and professionally.
My path to becoming a therapist began after I moved here, though I first took a detour into financial planning before returning to my true calling. I’m passionate about helping people through psychotherapy, and my experience spans working with children and young adults on the autism spectrum, kids in public schools, adults in private practice, families in community health clinics, residents in long-term care, and people at a homeless shelter. Over the years, I’ve witnessed both the challenges life can bring and the healing power of connecting with someone through those experiences.
Being a therapist, and having been a client myself, has shown me how shared exploration can be deeply transformative. I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, and spiritual questions or experiences, including spiritual emergence or emergency. Seeing both struggles and the resilience people carry has reinforced my belief in therapy’s power to support self-understanding, integration, and growth.
In my work, I meet each client where they are and embrace the unknown together. Anxiety often arises from life’s uncertainties, and revisiting difficult memories with someone you trust can feel challenging, but it can also be illuminating and freeing. My hope is to help clients grow in self-awareness, strengthen their sense of agency, and move toward feeling more whole.
