What happens during the free 50 minute consultation?
It's a chance for us to meet in person, by video, or phone, for you to share a bit about what your challenges are and what you are looking to get out of therapy. I am also happy to share more about myself if you desire and answer any questions you may have. The goal is for us to determine if there is a goodness of fit to move forward or not. I want to provide you what you need to make such an informed decision.
Do you offer in-person or tele-health sessions?
I offer both.
If we work together, how often do we meet and for how long?
People typically like to meet once a week, but I am flexible and open to meeting more or less often, depending upon your desire, your financial circumstances, and my scheduling availability. Each session is 50 minutes long.
What is Jungian Oriented Therapy?
Jungian Oriented Therapy is an attitude or position a therapist may take to understand how clients or people present with their issues or symptoms. This comes from a place of curiosity to understand the deeper relevance or meaning in these manifestations to see the interconnectedness to the wholeness of the person, which can appear as a counterintuitive approach to healing and growth for someone. As an example, if someone came to therapy for depression and anxiety, instead of treating the symptoms with only medication or only learning to cope with feeling sad or anxious, the desire by the therapist to be with and understand the sadness and anxiety can help in different, longer lasting ways. Sometimes clients may experience the joining with by the therapist in such expressions as validating and via experience, helps them realize it's okay to feel sad or anxious, allowing them to integrate the experience and potentially build resilience in the process for future experiences of sadness and anxiety. These are the type of therapeutic experiences that can lead to more of a sense of wholeness and facilitate the process of helping someone understand themselves better. It is important to mention that while I take a Jungian Oriented approach to therapy, I am not a trained certified Jungian Analyst.
How long does therapy take?
This depends on what you are looking to get out of therapy. If you are clear you want to work on one issue, it could take as short as a few sessions or even one, depending on the complexity. Conversely, if you want to delve deeper into understanding yourself, relationship patterns, and other larger life challenges, therapy could last a year or even a few years. There's no minimum commitment and you can stop at any point, but with a good fit, you may find it beneficial and even enjoy the process to want to continue long-term.
How will I know if therapy is working?
This is very dependent on you and what you deem as working. But from my own personal experience and anecdotally from clients, you may feel lighter, more whole, more of a sense of clarity and resolution, and more grounded. On a deeper level, when we get in touch with ourselves and feel such authenticity and congruence, we may even have a feeling or sense of "I am being and/or becoming who I am and/or meant to be."
What are your fees and do you accept insurance?
I charge $135 per 50 minute session and do not accept insurance. If you want do the paperwork yourself with your insurance for out of network, I am happy to provide a superbill, but do not get involved otherwise.
